The Role:

As a key member of the Insurance Risk team within our Life Actuarial function, you'll have responsibility for monitoring and managing our exposure to insurance risks, and developing the Group’s insurance risk strategy over time.  This is a relatively new team within the Phoenix actuarial family, so there’s a real opportunity to shape the role and to influence the way in which we monitor, measure and respond to the risks to which we’re exposed.  You'll need to understand our exposure in areas such as longevity, persistency, mortality and morbidity, develop initiatives to help us to better understand the key drivers of insurance risks, and look for opportunities to create value from the business as we manage these challenges.

What we're looking for:

As a qualified actuary with relevant and suitable Life industry experience, you will be able to:

• demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of the latest industry developments, techniques and regulatory requirements in respect of insurance risk, particularly within a Solvency II context;
• use your technical know-how and excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex technical issues in a concise manner to senior stakeholders and governance committees;
• support the development of more junior colleagues within the team by delegating work appropriately and sharing best practice and knowledge;
• be change-orientated and commercially aware, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and add tangible value to technical discussions; and
• work independently and be able to cope with challenging timescales, with a creative and confident approach to problem-solving and a drive for continuous improvement.
