Salary:£53,000 - £66,000 + 12% Car Allowance + 20% Bonus

Based in Life Legal and reporting to, a Senior Legal Advisor, your role will focus on the supporting the delivery of a professional and value adding Legal Department to Phoenix Life and other group companies as appropriate. Provide high quality, practical legal advice. To minimise legal risk and add value to the business by enabling it to take timely and legally effective decisions. On a day to day basis, this will involve:

  • Advise on: the legal aspects of business projects (including acquisition and post-acquisition related projects) including acting as or supporting the legal work stream manager
    • Business contracts
    • Life and Pensions related legal matters
    • Actuarial risk management and investment related transactions including IMA’s

 

  • To provide for the proper engagement and management of external lawyers as appropriate (including cost control within the allocated budget and tracking)
  • To assist the Legal Department (LD) in the provision of a legal risk management and mitigation service to the business including monitoring legal developments in areas affecting the business, advising and working with colleagues to ensure timely and effective compliance with relevant legal requirements
  • To assist the LD provide reports and management information on legal matters, legal risk management and on the operation of the Legal Department as required by the business 
  • Deputising for senior colleagues

As Legal Advisor, you must be qualified and have a strong financial services background – with relevant exposure to Life & Pensions ideally gained in-house but private practice experience will also be considered if you have focused on FS – who can demonstrate:

  • Suitably experienced lawyer with sufficient post qualification experience to be able to operate without significant supervision
  • Commercial contract drafting experience necessary 
  • Experience of working within continuously changing environments, with professionals from other disciplines and with stakeholders from all levels within an organisation
  • Awareness of the financial services regulatory regime preferable
  • Good risk awareness and mitigation
