The Role

A new opportunity has arisen in our Juxon House office to provide secretarial support to our corporate actuaries.  They’re a team of highly-regarded technical specialists, at the very heart of the financial management and strategic direction of our organisation.

Reporting to the Executive Personal Assistant to the Group Chief Actuary, you’ll help to provide invaluable secretarial support to our Group Actuarial function, including:

  • producing and compiling reports, presentations and other communications on behalf of the team; • handling and screening telephone calls; • maintaining effective electronic and paper filing and document control systems, including internal registers and databases to track progress on key projects; • organising meetings, venues, travel arrangements and accommodation for senior colleagues; and • a wide range of other general administration duties, such as invoice and personal expense processing, diary management and coordinating access rights to key IT systems.

You could also find yourself owning or assisting on other ad-hoc tasks and projects, so it’s a role that comes with a good deal of variety – and plenty of scope to use your initiative to get things done!

What we’re looking for:

We’ll expect you to be conscientious, highly organised, and to have a personable and confident approach to enable you to fit quickly into a new team.  Multi-tasking and “thinking on your feet” will come naturally to you, and you’ll be comfortable with planning and prioritising your work within challenging timescales.

Excellent communication skills are essential in this role, as you’ll be supporting and speaking with a wide range of internal colleagues, right up to senior management level.  You will be handling commercially sensitive and confidential information, so we will expect you to display the highest levels of professionalism and discretion in your day-to-day work.

You should have a high level of proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, along with a good eye for detail and an ability to work under your own initiative.  Previous experience of supporting a similar function within a corporate or financial services environment would be a distinct advantage – but most important is an enthusiasm to support those around you, and a willingness to develop new skills and take pride in your work.
