12-month Fixed Term Contract opportunity - London or South Birmingham
£54,000 - £81,000 + Car allowance + 20% bonus

This is a relatively new role within the Phoenix Group, where you can put your Financial Services expertise and your knowledge of derivatives and investments to great use.  You'll be helping to oversee the effective management of derivatives across the organisation, to ensure we're effectively mitigating the investment risks we face as part of our day-to-day operations and our longer-term strategy.

The Role:

Supporting the Derivatives and Investment Risk Manager within our Investment Office function, you'll have a wide range of responsibilities, including the oversight and annual review of our asset managers' derivative management activities, the provision of business input into legal agreements for OTC derivatives, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to support the implementation of any new hedging strategies or investment mandates.  You may also find yourself supporting a range of other activities relating to investment management, collateral management and stock-lending.

You will quickly get up to speed with derivative usage across our Phoenix Life Companies, and you'll take a lead on ensuring any relevant regulatory updates are appropriately incorporated into our processes and policies.  The role comes with a strong focus on Risk Management, so you'll need to ensure the appropriate systems, controls and documentation are in place to support all of our work on derivatives.

What we're looking for:

You'll need a thorough understanding of the investment management market place, with a particular focus on how derivatives are used within the Insurance and Asset Management industries.  A detailed knowledge of the regulatory and legal landscape in which Financial Services companies operate is also important.

We're looking for someone with the initiative to formulate new ideas and the drive to see these through to completion, and as a strong communicator, you'll be comfortable with building effective relationships at all levels of the Phoenix Group and with external partners such as investment managers.

If you think you have what it takes, we'd love to hear from you!

About us:

We're the UK's largest closed life assurance and pension fund consolidator; as a rapidly developing FTSE 250 listed company, we protect the interests of around 6 million policyholders, with assets under management of over £75 billion.  Careers with Phoenix Group are different; we've been certified as one of 'Britain's Top Employers' for seven years running, and we have a unique employee offering, including a strong corporate responsibility culture and some fantastic on-site facilities!  If you’re looking for intellectually challenging work in an unrivalled environment, we might just be the place for you!
